This is another of the dumping-ground-for-disorganized-notes pages

The TL850 is at heart an MPEG decoder, but it's got doodads and chrome.

Inputs:

outputs:

can decode 1 HD or 4 SD streams simultaneously

supports on-chip letterboxing and pan-and-scan for showing 16:9 on 4:3 (how does it decide where to scan to???)

supports PIP and combining from multiple inputs

graphics plane with 24bit color + 8bit alpha -- should play with the 4th 'color' channel in bmx files, see if it's passed on as the alpha channel. a completely translucent interface, ahoy?

There's a 'tlhelp' vxworks shell command (accessible via the ptvio shell's 'call' command), and lots of debugging output - it's all disabled, including the output of the tlhelp & other shell commands, though. write CougLib?.o byte 0x1c5b7 with value 0x5f to re-enable (versions 4.1.0 and 4.1.1; be careful on anything else). the ptvio shell command "writebyte CougLib?.o 0x1c5b7 0x5f" will do this.
