FireWire, AKA IEEE 1394 and i.Link, is a high-speed serial bus intended for audio/video and mass-data systems.

The original ReplayTV models included two FireWire ports; Replay said they were for future storage expansion, and there was speculation they might be used to interface to digital camcorders or computer-based video editing.

The ports were never enabled and were removed from the second generation systems. Some reports indicate that they weren't even electrically connected on the original systems.
