Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services. This could mean: You are not using an Administrator account. Easy to rectify, but will require you start over. The WiRNS service was previously installed and is currently running. Not likely, but easy to check under Administrative Tools / Services. A previously installed WiRNS service was configured to use an account other than the Local System Account. Change the Log On account to Local System, then click Retry in the WiRNS install dialog. You could also choose to ignore this message. --------------------- WiRNS Service Monitor --------------------- If you selected the 'Start WiRNS' Checkbox, the installer will start the WiRNS Service Monitor, which should appear as a status icon in your Windows System Tray. It will appear as a White 'W' inside a colored circle. The circle colors signify: Red: Stopped / Not Running Yellow: Starting Up / Shutting Down Green: Running If the tray icon remains red, WiRNS did not start. Right-click on the tray icon and select Start. If that doesn't work, browse to the folder where you installed WiRNS and run StartWirns.bat ----- Setup ----- The first time WiRNS starts, you will be presented with the WiRNS Setup dialog, which will ask for: WiRNS IP: The IP address that WiRNS will bind to port 80 on your pc. This is the WiRNS PC IP address. If you happen to have more than one IP address bound to your PC, this is where you choose the one to use. DNS Server: The IP Address of a DNS server that is accessible from your PC (usually your ISP's) Zip Code: The Zip Code(s) for your lineup(s). If entering more than one, separate with a comma. If you are not in the U.S. or require an external XML data source, enter 0 (zero). These settings can all be changed later, but it would be extremely helpful to have the correct information the first time. After entering this information, click Save. Verify your input and click on the dialog box as directed. You should then see a message pop up: Attempting to locate all Replays. This can take up to 5-10 minutes. Acknowledge this message (OK), and wait a few minutes for another message box: Click Ok to continue and set up your Guide Data Source Click Ok. Wait for WiRNS to complete its startup. The Edit Guide Data Configuration page should then open in your web browser. Enter your Schedules Direct Login Name (Login 1) and Schedules Direct Password (Password 1) Click the Update button From the Administration Menu, select Update Guide This will display the WiRNS Index Page which will show you that the Guide Update is In Progress. This process will take several minutes. Click the Status menu item to refresh the page. Once the Guide Update is Complete, from the Configuration Menu, select Replays For each Replay listed, click the Edit button. This is not necessary for the WiRNS Replay listed. Using the Lineup dropdowns, select your Lineup(s). Click Update. Once all Replays have been configured, from the Administration Menu, select Update Guide once again and wait for the update to complete. WiRNS should now contain Guide Data (try Tools -> Current Channel Guide). For other XMLTV guide data, see http://planetreplay.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=65293#65293 --------------- Troubleshooting --------------- If WiRNS doesn't start or starts but you have problems or get no dialogs, there are 2 log files created that may help, wirns.log and wirns.debug.log Also, starting WiRNS from a command prompt using the StartWiRNS.bat file may help determine problems. With some helpful information, most problems can be solved by searching the WiRNS forum at Planet Replay or posting a message. ------------------------- Configuring your ReplayTV ------------------------- On your ReplayTV, go to Menu, Setup, Network and Input Settings Change Network -------------- Configure your ReplayTV to use a static IP address. Set Netmask to 255.255.255.0 The Gateway value should remain unchanged (probably your router IP address) Set DNS Server 1 to your WiRNS IP address Set DNS Server 2 to your WiRNS IP address Select Continue, your ReplayTV will attempt to verify the network settings. If the settings do not verify, you must correct the problem before continuing. Change Zip Code --------------- Change your Zip Code to any valid Zip Code in your time zone. This will cause your ReplayTV to connect to WiRNS and download your WiRNS Lineups. Once the ReplayTV has completed its update, you will be asked to set up your connections. After selecting the connection type, you will be asked for the service provider. Select the appropriate WiRNS lineup. Complete the Inputs setup. When you return to the Setup Summary, select "Keep all settings". Please visit Planet Replay for additional help and support: http://www.planetreplay.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=32
